Empowering Students Through SEL

We’re committed to helping each student thrive emotionally and academically. Social-emotional learning (SEL) is woven into every moment of the day, ensuring students develop the skills to manage emotions, build strong relationships, and make smart decisions. Our dedicated social workers and psychologists offer personalized support to every student. Our "We Do It for the Culture" curriculum, rooted in hip hop, connects with black and brown students, making SEL both relevant and impactful.

  • How large are the class sizes at OCS?

    Opportunity Charter School's low student-teacher ratio creates a learning environment that allows students to receive the individual support they require to grow. By comparison, the average pupil-teacher ratio for all NYC schools is 15:1.

  • What extracurricular activities does OCS have?

    ​OCS’s athletics program provides students with various opportunities throughout the school year to develop teamwork and leadership skills in a fun and active environment. We offer: Girls Volleyball, Flag Football (HS), Cross Country, Boys Basketball (MS), Girls Basketball (7th–12th grade), Basketball (Junior Varsity), Boys Basketball (Varsity), Girls, Softball (HS), Boys Baseball (HS), Outdoor Track and Field (MS and HS)

    Coed Volleyball and Coed Flag Football.
